Call Out Details:
An elderly gentleman failed to rendezvous with his son at foot of Dore Head, in failing light after doing the Mosedale Horseshoe . When last seen, he had only been 200m or so behind. His son could not locate him, so called for assistance. The two were well equipped and experienced.
Call Out Conclusion:
Wasdale Team mounted an immediate search, and the casualty was found by Search Dog Jess at about 0130. The casualty was possibly further up the fell than son had thought.
Jess had a good find from below in minimal wind conditions, and despite being directed across the fell at the time. The casualty had fallen maybe 4m on loose rocky ground.
He was stretchered off with numerous lacerations and facial injuries and taken to Cumberland Infirmary.
