Call Out Details:

An 18 year old male went missing after he and his companion stopped for a rest on Oughterside while on a walk round part of the Coledale Horseshoe. His companion set off again, to discover that the youngster was missing, and could not then re-locate him in the deep bracken & heather. After spending some time calling and searching, he requested assistance. The rescue team turned out a small group with three searchdogs to search the area.

Call Out Conclusion:

After a fairly short search, in deep bracken and heather, the missing lad was located by Search Dog Bracken and handler, after the handler noticed an Afro haircut protruding above the bracken ! It transpired he had fallen asleep when they stopped, and had not realised that his companion had set off without him. He was dehydrated and hungry, but after the handler had fed and watered him, he was able to walk down to Braithwaite with her to be reunited with his friend.
