Call Out Details:
Three inexperienced walkers strayed off the path and ended up in a steep gully on Skiddaw, which had already avalanched. The Team's available search dogs attended, in case the area avalanched again during the rescue.
Call Out Conclusion:
The three were rescued without further incident, though it is worth noting they were in no way prepared for winter conditions - or even the hill. No equipment, spare food, inadequate clothing and footwear would have meant a miserable night out - or worse. Because overnight, a major avalanche occurred, covering the whole area they would have been in.
