Call Out Details:
A 32 year old man was reported missing after leaving a party in an isolated hostel in a drunken state at approximately 1 am. His friends were unable to locate him. Given the local beck was in spate, and there were a large number of mine workings in the vicinity, an immediate search for a high risk misper was mounted.
Call Out Conclusion:
Search dogs were asked to cover the areas between the beck and the road, whilst Team members and Swiftwater rescue technicians checked the river. Search Dog Corrie found and indicated on the misper's car keys, before finding him in an old mill wheel housing behind the hostel, having fallen 50ft. He was extricated by the Team with considerable difficulty, and flown to hospital in Middlesbrough with possible spinal injuries.
